Danish Kringle

(Grandma Fillmore & Rachel Troxell Valentine)

Dissolve 1 yeast in 1/2 cup of warm water

Scald and cool 1 cup milk
add 3 egg yolks and
3 tablesppons of sugar

mix 4 cups flour
1 cup shortening
1 teaspoon of salt (like pie crust)

add the yeast and milk
cover and refrigerate overnight

Divide into 4 parts.
Roll out and thin
Brush with slightly beaten egg whites
Sprinkle with brown sugar and choped nuts
fold 1/3 dough over the filling and
1/3 from other side over that.

Bake on cookie sheet @ 350
Ice while warm
and sprinkle with nuts
